Mental Health Parity
Campaign
In partnership with The Carter Center and funded by The Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, our team launched the Atlanta phase of Georgia’s Mental Health Awareness Campaign. Building on prior work in Albany and Savannah, this initiative sought to expand awareness of the 2022 Mental Health Parity Act (HB 1013), which ensures mental health and substance use treatments are covered on par with physical health by insurers.
Results —
This campaign aimed to close critical gaps in awareness and enforcement of HB 1013, ensuring Georgians—especially those most at risk—understand and exercise their rights to equitable mental health care.
The campaign made a tangible mark on the conversation. When The Atlanta Journal-Constitution spotlighted insurers’ failure to enact parity, The Carter Center was able to point to this initiative as evidence of real solutions in action. Our work generated 10.2M impressions in Atlanta alongside 53 pieces of media coverage and 5,200+ microsite visitors (with up to 92% of traffic driven by display ads).
Approach —
Conducted pre- and post-campaign surveys, plus qualitative research with BIPOC communities.
Executed direct-to-consumer outreach targeting underinsured and vulnerable populations.
Applied insights and strategies from earlier campaign phases to Atlanta audiences.
